Lajčák meets Slovak Foreign Minister Kubiš


Following his address to the UN Security Council, the High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, met with Slovak Foreign Minister Ján Kubiš, today in Bratislava.


The HR/EUSR Lajčák and Foreign Minister Kubiš discussed current political situation in BiH and agreed that membership in the European Union is BiH’s key strategic objective. The country needs to overcome current crisis and deal with essential issues that are blocking the EU integration process. Slovak Foreign Minister Kubiš expressed hope that in the coming days, BiH´s leaders will follow-up on their recent promises and make sure that their country can join its neighbours and allow the EU to initial Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). On Monday (November 19), situation in Bosnia will be discussed at the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.


Slovak Foreign Minister will brief his colleagues about his discussions with The HR/EUSR Lajčák, and repeated the Slovak government’s full support to his recent measures, introduced in order to increase functionality of the state institutions of BiH. He strongly warns against attempts to impair the functionality of the BiH state that goes against the Dayton peace agreement.  Therefore, Mr. Kubiš calls upon political leaders of both entities of BiH to fulfil their obligations and implement HR’s decisions.
