Lajčák met Ljubić in Sarajevo

High Representative/EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajčák met today with the President of HDZ 1990 Božo Ljubić at the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo. In the meeting, they discussed the European integration and constitutional reform process – topics defining the current political moment, but also the quality of BiH’s future.

The High Representative/EU Special Representative emphasized that European integration and constitutional changes were two strategic projects facing BiH and its political leaders and that the result of these processes should be a better, more efficient BiH, compatible with Europe, in which everyone would feel good and at home and equal.

In accordance with the agreement of political leaders from Široki Brijeg on 2 February 2008, adoption of police reform legislations required to meet the conditions for signing the SAA is currently the highest priority in order to ensure a European future to BiH. Constitutional talks, also in line with the Široki Brijeg conclusions, could begin after the signing of the SAA and the High Representative/EU Special Representative is prepared to assist in that process.
