Lajčák in Moscow: BiH leaders must address state property and status of Brcko

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, today informed the Russian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Vladimir Titov in Moscow about the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in particular progress in meeting the five objectives and two conditions defined by the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council for OHR/EUSR transition.

“Significant progress has been made in implementing the five objectives,” said the High Representative and EU Special Representative. “However, there is still no agreement in sight regarding a viable solution for the issue of State property, and the full integration of Brcko District into the constitutional structure of BiH.” He added that the international community expects BiH’s political leaders to undertake further efforts to resolve these two key questions.

Speaking of the second condition set by the PIC, the HR/EUSR stressed that political leaders will need to engage in a more constructive dialogue and stay clear of provocative rhetoric to ensure a positive assessment of the political situation in BiH by the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council.

Deputy Minister Titov reiterated that Russia is committed to a successful OHR/EUSR transition and ensuring that a functional Bosnia and Herzegovina take full responsibility for its EU future, to the benefit of all its citizens.
