Political Dialogue Must Be Strengthened

In Bosnia and Herzegovina there is no substitute to compromise; by strengthening their political dialogue, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political leaders could have a platform for progress, the High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, said yesterday in a meeting with the UK Europe Minister Baroness Glenys Kinnock and senior UK officials.

The European Union is making preparations for a reinforced presence in BiH, similarly the BiH authorities must reengage more effectively on fulfilling the obligations they have undertaken under the European Partnership, the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and in order attain a Membership Action Plan which would lead to eventual NATO membership. “In order to fulfil these goals wider political process of dialogue is needed. Yesterday some BiH political leaders have shown the necessary political responsibility by participating at the political leaders meeting. They should be commended for their constructive behaviour” Inzko said.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative emphasized the importance of visa liberalisation for BiH “The failure to fulfilling the priorities for visa liberalisation must serve as a wake-up call,” said HR/EUSR Inzko, “we have no time for blame-game now, it is time to start working and stop with unproductive debates in order to be able to meet the conditions for the visa liberalisation”.
