oHead of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, and the Deputy Ambassador of Hungary, Lajos Kohari visited Gradiska

The northern city of Gradiska was the location of a visit today by the Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, and the Deputy Ambassador of Hungary, Lajos Kohari. They met with the municipal authorities and discussed the functioning of the local community, which as the level of authority closest to citizens has a key role to play in the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European Union integration. 

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has a very good base for EU integration. We see that in Gradiska today, but also during the visits to other towns and municipalities”, Ambassador Sorensen said after the meeting with the Mayor of Gradiska, Zoran Latinovic, and Municipal Assembly Speaker, Radislav Doncic.  

 Ambassador Sorensen and Hungarian Deputy Ambassador Kohari also visited the Home Museum, which exhibits various historical artefacts founded in the vicinity of Gradiska, and the Music School whose pupils performed a short recital for their guests. Young musicians from Gradiska won 40 awards at various competitions held this year. Later on, Ambassador Sorensen hosted a working lunch for the representatives of the business community.

Ambassador Sorensen met with the Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanovic, in Banja Luka today. They discussed various issues related to European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina including the implementation of EU financial assistance projects.
