Ambassador Sorensen visits construction site of the Corridor Vc

The Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, accompanied by the FBiH Highways Director, Mr Ensad Karic, and 2nd  Secretary of the Italian Embassy, Ms Ilaria Ragnoni,  visited today the construction site of the 1 March tunnel (Vijenac) and Drivusa-Gorica section of the Corridor Vc.

Ambassador Sorensen congratulated the workers and everyone involved in the construction of one of the most challenging parts of the Corridor Vc project, stressing its importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of transport and employment. ” It is important that Bosnia and Herzegovina is ready to withstand the pressures, and exploit the advantages of the EU market of 500 million consumers. Projects such as this are a key part of that effort. I am looking foward to the completion of the Sarajevo-Zenica highway but also to the completion of the Corridor Vc  as a whole “, Ambassador Sorensen stated.

When finished, 1 March tunnel (Vijenac) will be the longest one in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The  Sarajevo-Zenica highway should be open in March 2014.
