Novi Grad City Hall: reconstruction finished at another BiH civic landmark

The Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH and European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, attended today a ceremony organised to mark the end of the reconstruction works on the City Hall in Novi Grad. The European Union allocated one million Euro for reconstruction of the City Hall.

BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Sredoje Novic, RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic, and the Mayor of Novi Grad, Snjezana Railic, also attended the event.

This project is only a fraction of the 13 million Euro overall assigned for the restoration and rehabilitation of BiH cultural heritage from the IPA and PHARE funds since 2008. The EU is also supporting works on the City Hall (Vijecnica) in Sarajevo, the Kastel in Banja Luka, and Old Town Vidoski in Stolac.

Ambassador Sorensen stated at the ceremony that all these buildings and facilities are of high cultural importance, not only for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the South East Europe region, but as part of wider European history.
