Youth Symphony Orchestra of Southeast Europe held a concert at European Parliament

The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Southeast Europe held a concert at the European Parliament in Brussels on 7 November 2007. The concert in Brussels was organised at the invitation by the European Parliament and was officially opened by Mr Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the European Parliament. It took place at the Yehudi Menuhin Hall in the European Parliament. Maestro Siniša Marković conducted the orchestra of 26 musicians who on this occasion performed well-known pieces by Mozart, Schostakovich and Barber.

This is the third concert that the Delegation of the European Commission to Bosnia and Herzegovina organised in order to officially mark the 50th Anniversary of Rome Treaties, which established the European Union. All three concerts were financed by the Delegation of the European Commission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Youth Symphony Orchestra South Eastern Europe (YSOSEE) gathers young musicians who play in the major symphony orchestras in the region such as: Belgrade, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Skopje and Sarajevo as well as musicians who are originally from the region but play in the symphony orchestras in London, Paris, Vienna and Düsseldorf.

The organisation of this concert was also supported by the OSCE BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and the Sarajevo “Centar” Municipality.
