FINAL CONFERENCE OF THE PROJECT „Strengthening BiH Health care systems for EU Integration

European Union funded Project „Strengthening BiH Health care systems for EU Integration”, is organising a Final Conference in order to present the achieved results. The Conference will be held on 28 March 2008, in Banja Luka, in the building of the RS Government, Trg Republike Srpske 1, starting at 10:30.

The implementation of the Project started on June 5th 2006, as the follow up of the activities on the reform of public administration in BiH with a goal of building up and strengthening of the institutional capacities in the health sector at the state, entity and Brcko District level. The key counterparts of the Project were: Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Ministry of Health of F BiH, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare RS and Department of Health of Brcko District.

The technical assistance comprised numerous important activities, such as: establishment of the Health Department in the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, establishment of the Ministerial Conference for Health in BiH, development of the Strategy for the Department of Health within the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, development of the Health Strategy of Brcko District, the preparation of the first set of the statistical data for the National Health Accounts in accordance with EUROSTAT standards, support to the implementation of the process of accreditation of health institutions in BiH, establishment of the structure for reporting health indicators to EUROSTAT and other international organisations (World Health Organisation, World bank, OECD, etc.), important issues of public relations in the area of health, harmonisation of the legislation with the EU acquis, and development of the document with recommendations of the future activities necessary for the EU integration process. The total amount for the Project is 960.000 Euro.

Delegation of the European Commission will continue to support the reform processes in the health sector and further strengthening of the necessary institutional and legal framework in BiH that will have an important role in the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union.
