The EBRD and the Energy Community will host a Regional Energy Forum in Sarajevo, Bosnia- Herzegovina, on Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 March 2009, which will focus on investment opportunities in electricity generation and renewable energy.
The Forum will highlight the importance of investment and regional co-operation to promote energy security and energy efficiency along the entire energy value chain in the region of south-eastern Europe. Another key focus of the event will be the promotion of renewable energy sources.
The forum will be opened by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nikola Spiric, EC Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs and EBRD President Thomas Mirow. The keynote address will be given by Mr Claude Mandil, former Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.
Ministers, high-level representatives from the Energy Community contracting parties, utilities, regulators, transmission system operators, private investors and the donor community will discuss the challenges and opportunities for the development of energy generation and renewable energy sources in the region.
