European Commission adopts Decision on cross-border cooperation between BiH, Serbia and Montenegro respectively and Decision on financing BiH’s participation in the European Territorial Cooperation transnational programme “South-East Europe” and the “Mediterranean”

The total value of the financing agreement for the cross-border cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is 1,800.000 € with main objectives to bring together the people, communities and economies of the eligible area to jointly participate in the development of a cooperative area using its human, natural, cultural and economic resources and advantages, with the overall objective to stimulate the economies, to foster sustainable development and reduce the relative isolation of the eligible area by strengthening joint institutional networks and the capacities of human resources.  The priorities and measures defined in this programme are structured in such a manner to respect and provide for the implementation of the specific objectives. The primary priority of this cross-border programme is to support the social and economic cohesion through actions to improve physical, business, social and institutional infrastructure and capacity in order to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the area’s economic, rural and environmental resources.

The total value of the financing agreement for the cross-border cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro is 1,100.000 € with main objectives to foster the sustainable development of the cross-border area, its economic, cultural, natural and human resources and potentials by strengthening the capacities of human resources and joint institutional networks among local communities and local private and public actors. The priorities and measures defined in this programme are structured in such a manner to respect and provide for the implementation of the specific objectives. The primary priority of this programme is to support the creation of a common socio-economic environment for people, communities and economies of the eligible area. The measures will include cross-border economic development initiatives with an emphasis on tourism and rural development.

The ERDF “South–East Europe” and “Mediterranean” programme aims at the establishment and development of transnational co–operation through the financing of networks and of actions conducive to integrated territorial development, concentrating primarily on the following areas: innovation, environment, accessibility (transport and telecommunication), sustainable urban development.

The European Union’s contribution to this programme is 560,202.00 € and its main objectives are to support the participation of partners from candidate/potential candidate countries in joint trans-national co–operation activities with partners from EU Member States; to familiarise candidate/potential candidate countries with territorial co–operation programmes under the EU Structural Funds, with a view to their implementation upon accession.
