All media representatives are cordially invited to the launch of the EU funded Twinning light project “Capacity Building of Human Resources Department of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina” which will take place on Wednesday, 2 September 2009, at 14.00 hrs, at the premises of the EC Delegation to BiH, Skenderija 3a. Mr Johan Hesse, Head of Operations Department for Economic Development within the EC Delegation to BiH and Mr Kemal Kozaric, Governor of the Central Bank of BiH, will address the participants.
Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the CBBH), in cooperation with Deutsche Bundesbank and Czech National Bank, started the implementation of the project on September 1, 2009. The aim of the project, that will take six months, is to increase the efficiency and to develop the modern system of human resources management in the CBBH in line with the European standards and internationally acknowledged best practices, in order to improve the institutional capacity in operative terms, and also with the aim of further development and the preparations of other areas relevant for the European integrations.
The European Union provided 250.000 € for this Twinning light project from IPA funds while the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Czech National Bank shall ensure the qualified and experienced experts for its implementation.
Twinning is an instrument used in the context of EU assistance for candidate countries to strengthen their administrative and institutional capacity in preparation for membership of the European Union. It has become available also for potential candidates to help them adapt their administrations to implement the aquis communautaire and take on the obligations that future membership will bring.
Twinning not only provides technical and administrative assistance to the beneficiary country but also helps to build long-term relationship between the old, new and future EU member states and brings the beneficiary country into wider contact with the diversity of administrative practices inside the EU.
