Statement by Ambassador Kourkoulas on visa liberalization process

In the light of the recent media reports referring to the alleged statements on the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina with regards to visa liberalization process and comparison of the same to that of the neighbouring countries, Ambassador Dimitris Kourkoulas, Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, would like to make the following statement:

“As far as the institutional and legal framework is concerned, progress has been achieved compared to July. I would like to congratulate the authorities involved in the adoption and implementation of legislative measures such as the Anticorruption package as well as today’s adoption of the Proposed Strategy and Action Plan for Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Proposed Agreement on Cooperation and Exchange of Information from Police and Prosecutorial Records, by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These developments are encouraging and will be assessed by the European Commission as soon as all other important missing elements of the Road Map, including the biometric passports, are fulfilled.”
