Ambassador Wigemark welcomes new UN Resident Co-ordinator in BiH

The Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, today welcomed the new UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Sezin Sinanoglu, in their first official meeting.

The EU presences and the UN Family in BiH have a strong operational and political cooperation in the country, especially in the implementation of the EU Flood Recovery Programme – the EU’s largest on-going cooperation programme, funded by the EU with EUR 42 million and implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and the IOM.

Ambassador Wigemark expressed his conviction that the results-oriented momentum would be sustained until the end of the Programme, and that Programme funds would continue to be allocated to priority projects and target families most in need.

He added: “The UN is also a valued partner in wide range of projects from implementing small arms control (EXPLODE) to reinforcing of local democracy and many more. We undertake complementary activities in the justice sector and in helping BiH to tackle corruption. I very much hope that this strong cooperation and coordination combining the skills of the excellent people who work for the EU and the UN in BiH will continue in the future.”
