Winners of the competition for young journalists “Europe for Us” awarded

An award ceremony for the winners of the competition for young journalists “Europe for Us” was held on May 31 at the EU Info Centre.

The eligible candidates were young journalist professionals and amateurs from Bosnia and Herzegovina who had published and submitted their author articles on the EU programmes and projects in BiH by 30th April this year. The panel composed of the members of the European Union Delegation and the EU Info Centre has chosen the winners.

The winning articles of the three authors, Marija Herceg, Maja Nikolić and Nataša Tadić have dealt with various EU programmes.

Marija Herceg, awarded for the narrative based on her student exchange experience which was published on a blog, highlighted the importance of non-formal education promotion.

“I have partaken in several youth exchange programmes including Erasmus +, wherein I have learned a lot, and I would like to inspire young people to take advantage of non-formal education opportunities offered to them, especially through EU programmes“, Herceg said.

In her article titled “Knowledge is the greatest weapon – Znanje je najjače oružje” Maja Nikolić have written about the reconstruction of the primary school “Solina” in Tuzla financed by the European Union.

‘’The most interesting thing about the project I wrote about is that the European Union decided to directly provide assistance to the youngest members of the society by improving the schooling conditions, equipping classrooms and a school sports hall, and I think that these are the stories to be discussed in the media,“  Nikolić stated.

Nataša Tadić noted that she often writes about the EU-related topics, and that this award would be an incentive to continue to follow the EU activities in BiH.

‘’After I saw the call for submission of works announced via a social network, I have decided to submit an article about the farm producing 15 to 20 tons of milk a day which is exported to the EU market since I believe that is important that such positive business stories reach people“, Tadić concluded.
