Local Integrated Development: Public call for supporting the production of cherries, strawberries and hazelnuts

Within the scope of the Local Integrated Development (LID) Project, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the public call was announced for expressing the interest of individuals from rural households from selected municipalities and cities to apply for support in producing cherry, strawberry and hazelnuts. Eligible applicants must be individuals who are engaged or used to be in agricultural productions and who live in the areas of the following municipalities and cities: Mostar, Konjic, Orašje, Odžak, Domaljevac-Šamac, Šamac, Žepče, Čelinac, and Modriča. Applicants can only apply for one production package based on the area of residence. For example, applicants from Mostar can only apply for production of cherries and strawberries, while applicants from Orašje, Odžak, Domaljevac-Šamac, Konjic, Žepče, and Šamac can only apply for production of hazelnut and strawberries. Applicants from Modriča and Čelinac can apply for one out of two options: a) production of hazelnut and strawberry or b) production of cherry and strawberry.

LID project will through similar  interventions directly support rural households in order to increase overall economic activity in targeted communities, and productivity of value chains which are identified as priority based on conducted analysis of value chains by LID project, resulting in the establishment of sustainable agricultural holdings and long-term sources of income for those households. Special focus will be given to the vulnerable categories of the population – minority returnees, internally displaced persons, households affected by floods in May of 2014, people with disabilities, Roma and other minorities, youth and women from vulnerable areas and long-term unemployed. LID project (2016-2018) is financed by the EU and implemented by UNDP in BiH, in cooperation with the BiH Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, theFBiH Ministry of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, the RS Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government and two Associations of Cities and Municipalities. The overall objective of the project is to raise the standard of living and the social cohesion in BiH through inclusive sustainable socio-economic development. Moreover, LID project aims to stimulate good governance and economic development and to promote social inclusion at the local level through integrated local development in the areas, primarily affected by floods and areas populated with a large percentage of returnees and internally displaced persons. LID project gives support to 21 municipalities and cities that are geographically and economically divided in four clusters: Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Čelinac, Doboj, Foča, Goražde, Gradiška, Konjic, Mostar, Maglaj, Modriča, Novi Grad, Odžak, Orašje, Prijedor, Srebrenik, Šamac, Tuzla, Vareš, Žepče and Živinice.
