Following comments made by BiH politicians in the media about the constitutional set-up of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, Head of Delegation/EU Special Representative, said:

“Statements in the context of the election campaign about trying to further divide BiH are a waste of time. The EU is fully committed to the territorial integrity of BiH as a united and sovereign country and we recall the most recent EU Foreign Affairs Council Conclusions in April that condemned secessionist and divisive rhetoric and ideas as unacceptable.
 
“At a time when unemployment in BiH is high, people are worried about feeding their families and are sick of corruption, indulging in divisive public statements is in very bad taste. We would instead welcome a discussion of answers to questions such as: where are the needed jobs and the better economy going to come from? The Compact for Growth and Jobs gives the suggestions, now it is up to the politicians to take it forward.”
