Commenting on the cross that appeared on the Zlatiste hill on Sunday, 21 September, spokesperson of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BIH, Andy McGuffie, said:

“Leaders and political actors in BiH should be supporting reconciliation and the rule of law at all times. This action undermines both. EUD/EUSR therefore calls on the RS authorities to act swiftly to ensure respect for the relevant legislation. We look to all political actors and media organisations in BiH to exercise leadership and responsibility and ensure that their public statements and coverage do not exploit the issue  to raise ethnic tensions or create fear or divisions. The EU expects that in public statements all public figures in BiH without exception do not seek to raise tensions, but rather adhere to norms of rational and constructive language.”
