Strengthening anti-corruption capacities and CSO networks

Kick-off meeting of the project „Strengthening anti-corruption capacities and CSO networks in the area“ was held today at the EU Delegation to BiH. The project’s goals, activities and expected results were discussed at the meeting, which EU funds in the amount of 500,000 euro from IPA 2010.

Representatives of all grant beneficiaries and main institutions in Bosnia Herzegovina mandated to prevent and fight corruption, such as Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination in the Fight against Corruption (Agency), BiH Ministry of Justice, BiH Federation Ministry of Justice, RS Ministry of Justice and Brcko District BiH Government, were present at the meeting. 

The project which is part of EU assistance to fight corruption in BiH, will provide technical assistance to the Agency, as well as to the recipients of the EU grants from IPA 2010 for fighting corruption and civil society organisations active in the fight against corruption.

The project will last two years and will be implemented by the Consortium consisted of European Consulting Group, DBB Akademie, Sequa GmbH and Centre for the Study of Democracy. Its main objectives are:

–    To strengthen the institutional and administrative capacities of Agency to effectively fight and prevent corruption
–    To prepare the New Anti-corruption Strategy and Action Plan for the period 2015 – 2020 and to support their implementation
–    To reinforce Anti-corruption capacities of public institutions mandated to fight and prevent corruption and support cooperation mechanisms involving relevant anti-corruption institutions at the State and Entities level, as well as in the Brcko District BiH
–    To provide and support participation of NGOs in implementation of existing Anticorruption Strategy and Action Plan and in preparation of new Anticorruption Strategy and Action Plan
–    To support establishment and functioning of mechanisms for cooperation and coordination among governmental and non-governmental organizations fighting corruption
–    To provide support to NGOs and public sector institutions in the implementation of the Anticorruption instruments and measures trough targeted capacity measures.

Representatives of the anti-corruption stakeholders will also explore the possibilities of synchronising the activities of the EU grants from IPA 2010, in order to increase the effects in the fight against corruption as a serious challenge and obstacle to democratic and economic development of a country.
