HR/EUSR Lajčák Meets Hungarian Prime Minister Gyurcsány

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, met today with Prime Minister of Hungary, Ferenc Gyurcsány, to discuss the current political situation, progress on implementation of the February Peace Implementation Council conclusions, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into the EU and EU engagement beyond OHR.


Both welcomed Bosnia and Herzegovina signing of the SAA on Monday 16 June and highlighted that it is crucial that the country quickly and effectively begins full implantation of this agreement.


High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, informed the Prime Minister Gyurcsány on the progress BiH authorities have made in completing the five objectives and two conditions necessary for transition of OHR to EUSR. There is progress on three of the five objectives where agreement on movable defense property has been reached, fiscal sustainability of the State is being strengthened as legislation on the National Fiscal Council is close to coming into force. HR/EUSR also pointed that the Rule of Law is strengthened by through agreed Justice Sector Reform Strategy and adoption the Law on the Stay of Aliens.


HR/EUSR Lajčák informed the Hungarian Prime Minister that the next reform steps should be agreeing a solution to the formula for allocating revenue from indirect taxation by the ITA Governing Board where the State and Entity Finance Ministers will need to be fully committed and resolution of the State property.
