Primary School „Mokro“ Wins EU Image Competition

Students of the Primary School “Mokro” the in municipality of Pale have won the competition for the best image of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future. Nine students were awarded a total of 999 KM for a series of drawings in which children expressed their wish for BiH to become part of the European Union soon.


The second prize, worth 666 KM, was awarded to Klaudijo Krtalić from Mostar for a photograph of a hoe carrying the message “I need the EU”. The third prize, worth 333 KM, went to Mirza Mašić from Sarajevo for a graphic representation of the place that the European Union has reserved for Bosnia and Herzegovina among the ranks of its member states.


„I wish to congratulate all competition winners, in particular the awarded students of the Primary School ‘Mokro’, who have succeeded in sending a clear message in their drawings to the decision-makers in charge of their European future”, EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajčák said. He thanked all competition participants for their efforts and commitment in supporting BiH’s European perspective.


In an effort to get students and youth thinking about their country’s future, the image competition forms part of the EUSR’s overall effort to generate a public debate about the European Union. Many of the works that were submitted displayed a unique, fresh and powerful expression of the benefits that BiH can derive from its integration into EU structures.
