EU Information Campaign Launched in Schools

This week 50 schools in BiH embarked upon a pilot project which aims to inform students in secondary schools, high schools and universities about how life in BiH will change as a result of the country’s effort to integrate with the European union.

The project focuses around Nina, Denis and Zlatko, three animated characters, who are just beginning their careers and want to make the best use of their talents and take full advantage of the opportunities that life offers them. In four episodes these animated stories students follow the three characters as they tackle day-to-day issues such as sitting final exams, dealing with bureaucracy, and entering the world of work.

Students will then take part in a series of moderated discussions and an interactive quiz based on the information contained in each of the episodes. This offers an entertaining way of learning more about the European Union and how it is helping Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through the interaction of the characters students will learn about the many ways in which daily life in Bosnia and Herzegovina is affected by the country’s efforts to integrate with the European Union. The series examines EU initiatives designed to create more jobs and raise living standards, improve schools and universities, and ensure that Bosnia and Herzegovina never again slides into conflict.

This project is being coordinated and presented in schools by the Center for the promotion of European Standards (www.ces.rs.ba) between December 2008 and February 2009.
