Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the CFSP, met Valentin INZKO, EUSR/HR in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), met today with Valentin INZKO, EU Special Representative and High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the meeting, Mr Solana expressed his full support for Ambassador Inzko and promised to work closely together with him in order to advance Bosnia and Herzegovina in its European integration. Mr Solana reiterated that 2009 is an important year for Bosnia and Herzegovina and a window of opportunity for progress. Both Mr Solana and Ambassador Inzko underlined the need to get on with the internal reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In particular they emphasised the importance of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) principle for reform, referred to as the 5+2 formula, as a prerequisite for a transition from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to an reinforced office of the European Union Special Representative (EUSR).
