High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko today extended congratulations to the newly elected Patriarch of the Serb Orthodox Church, His Eminence, Irinej.  

“Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as Patriarch of the Serb Orthodox Church. Allow me to express my wish that your work upon ascending the throne of St. Sava as the 45th head of the Serb Orthodox Church will be successful and beneficial to the Serb people, and to the spirit of understanding among religions and peoples in this region,” the HR/EUSR said in his message. 

The HR/EUSR also expressed the hope that, as spiritual father of the Serb faithful, Patriarch Irinej will help spread a spirit of cooperation and coexistence both in Serbia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.~
