Inzko Meets with Komšić: Elections no Excuse for Lack of Progress

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, met today in Sarajevo with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, and discussed with him the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

HR/EUSR Inzko emphasized that the forthcoming general election must not be used as an excuse for an absence of progress in adopting and implementing reforms necessary for further progress in the EU integration process.

Speaking about visa liberalization, HR/EUSR Inzko welcomed the determination of the BiH authorities to meet the remaining conditions so that BiH citizens can travel without visas to EU countries in the «Schengen» area.

«The coming weeks will be crucial for visa liberalization and if the agreed reforms continue to be implemented there is a real chance that the EU might make a decision before summer to place BiH on the ‘white’ Schengen list», the HR/EUSR said.
