Inzko: Local Leaders Must Settle the Issue of State Property Distribution

High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko held separate meetings today in Sarajevo with the Presidents of the SDA, Sulejman Tihić, the SDP, Zlatko Lagumdžija and the HDZ BIH, Dragan Čović.

During these meetings the High Representative and EU Special Representative urged the party leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina to intensify their efforts to achieve concrete and constructive progress with regard to the viable distribution of State property.

Inzko stressed that “the Council of Ministers, the Entity Governments as well as the Government of Brčko District ought to reach an intergovernmental agreement regarding State property which will ensure that each level of authority owns the properties it needs to carry out its constitutional and legal competencies. This task has to be done by local leaders”.

Today’s meetings are part of a series of meetings related to the next meeting of the Peace Implementation Council which HR/EUSR Inzko will have this week with party leaders in BiH and at which they will discuss unsolved “five plus two” issues related to State and Defence properties.
