HR/EUSR Inzko Meets Slovenian Foreign Minister Zbogar

High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko met today in Ljubljana with Foreign Minister of Slovenia Samuel Zbogar.

HR/EUSR Inzko briefed Minister Zbogar on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and said that BiH leaders need to seize the current opportunity to return to constructive politics.

“Political leaders need to change course and get on with government formation and other long overdue reforms urgently,” Inzko said. “BiH leaders should take this chance. They will be held responsible for their country’s development and progress not only in the next four years but in the decades to come,” Inzko and Zbogar underlined.

Key challenges include putting the country back on the road to Euro-Atlantic integration and reaching consensus on a comprehensive constitutional reform. “If the parties seize this opportunity Bosnia and Herzegovina can begin to take advantage of positive changes in the region,” said Zbogar.

Inzko thanked Zbogar for the crucial role Slovenia played in the visa liberalization efforts for BiH citizens, stressing that “BiH citizens want further progress on the EU integration path.”
