Closing ceremony of the Twinning project “Capacity building of the Ministry of Security through the establishment of the National Security Authority”

All media are invited to attend the closing ceremony of the EU funded Twinning project “Capacity building of the Ministry of Security through the establishment of the National Security Authority” which will take place on 11 February 2010 at 17:30, in the Hotel “Holiday Inn” in Sarajevo.

The European Union provided 1,5 million euro for this 29 months long project with the objective to build the capacity of designated  BiH security institutions to adequately handle secret data exchange between the EU and BiH. The project was implemented in co-operation with the National Security Authority of the Republic of Hungary and the BiH Ministry of Security. Other beneficiary institutions of the project are the BiH Ministry of Defence, BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs (including BiH Mission to the EU in Brussels), OSA, SIPA and BiH Border Police.

The activities of the project were part of the following three components:

1. Harmonization of the secret data protection legislation of BiH with the EU standards; 2. Training of BiH personnel managing the secret data, including specialized trainings in the aspect of personnel, physical, document security, INFOSEC and industrial security; 3. Supply and installation of an EU-conform security infrastructure on state level for the safeguarding and secure transmission of secret data.

The important result of the project is that the BiH beneficiary institutions are now able to provide the protection of the EU secret data in accordance with the relevant EU security regulations.
