Capacity Building of Civil Society To Take Part in Policy Dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina

We are pleased to announce the completion of the selection process to identify candidates to participate in a training and support programme on policy dialogue, which is part of the Cidi project: Capacity Building of Civil Society to take part in policy dialogue, Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The Cidi project is financed by the European Union (IPA 2007).

A public call to participate in the project was published in daily newspapers (Dnevni avaz, Dnevni list and Glas Srpske) on 29 January 2010. At the same time, the public call was sent to 1400 civil society organisations (CSOs) and networks/coalitions by email, and the recipents were asked to pass it on to other interested organisations.

In total, Cidi received applications from 45 formal and informal networks/coalitions, which included 278 CSOs from all parts of BiH.

The number of applications exceeded the expectations of the Cidi project team, and proves that CSOs in BiH are aware of the value of policy dialogue and the need to develop it further and which also shows their readiness to get involved in policy dialogue.

In accordance with publicly available criteria, the EU Delegation in BiH has confirmed the selection of 12 networks/coalitions to participate in the Cidi project.  Six of these networks/coalitions will take place in the full training and support programme; and six will take part in the partial programme.

The  selected CSO networks/coalitions focus on the following issues:  youth policy, trafficking of people, antidiscrimination (relating to the blilnd and partially sighted, deaf and hard of hearing, people with learning disabilities, and the chronically sick), the development of voluntarism, sustainable return and integration, the rights of women and victims of war rape, and the care of children from difficult family circumstances.
