EU funded works on rehabilitation of the Doboj Courthouse have started

The works on rehabilitation of the Doboj Courthouse which was severely damaged in the May 2014 floods have officially started today.

The EU provided funds in the amount of EUR 715,000 for the rehabilitation of this building which accommodates the Prosecutor’s Office, District Court, District Commercial Court and Basic Court.

These judicial institutions currently operate in an inadequate environment lacking basic working conditions and space (courtrooms, archive, offices and common space).

The Chief Prosecutor Željka Radović, President of the District Court Duško Ninković, President of the District Commercial Court Jovanka Jovanović, and President of the Basic Court Goran Đurić, expressed their sincere gratitude to the EU for this support. They stressed that this assistance will finally provide adequate working conditions for the employees as well as better space and services to citizens, which will result in normalisation of work of all judicial institutions in Doboj.

The completion of the works is expected in June next year. The building company “Gradnja Invest 2” is implementing the project.

This project is part of a wider package of EU funding for courts and prosecutors’ offices rehabilitation throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a support to enhancement of the rule of law in the country.
