HR/EUSR met with Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs State Secretary, Mr. Famiano Crucianelli

High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, met today with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs State Secretary, Mr. Famiano Crucianelli. During the meeting HR/EUSR briefed the State Secretary Crucianelli on political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

State Secretary Crucianelli expressed the support to the measures undertaken by the High Representative as they are necessary for functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina and are consistent with the Dayton accords. The measures are fair, balanced and positive for the functioning of BiH institutions. They are not directed against any group or people, nor do they not undermine entities’ constitutional prerogatives and the protection of vital national interests of any of the constitutive peoples.

Both agreed that European path is the right path for Bosnia and Herzegovina and called upon political leaders in BiH to  make concrete steps to unblock the road to Europe as soon as possible. This will bring clear benefits to all the citizens of the country and contribute towards regional stability and security.

Mostar Declaration, as characterized by both HR/EUSR Lajčák and Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs State Secretary Crucianelli is a positive signal of leading BiH politicians to move police reform forward as it remains a key EU requirement. The European Union gave a clear European perspective to Bosnia-Herzegovina; it is up to BiH to decide whether or not it wants to embrace the European perspective.
