High Representative/EU Special Representative Visits Zagreb

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, today made a working visit to Zagreb, where he met with Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Foreign Minister Goran Jandroković.

He informed his interlocutors about progress that has been achieved with regard to Euro-Atlantic integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in particular regarding the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and issues related to the transition from OHR to a comprehensive EU presence in the country.

Ambassador Inzko noted that Croatia has a crucial role in the region and expressed his appreciation of Croatia’s contribution to regional stability. He said Bosnia and Herzegovina could make use of Croatia’s experience. He also expressed satisfaction with Croatia’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the EU and NATO.

The HR/EUSR stressed that the process of constitutional reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina must be based on consensus and directed at making a system of government that serves citizens better. “The Constitution must result in a more efficient BiH,” he said.
