Inzko Meets US Congress Delegation: Time for Constitutional Reform

The leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina must continue to work towards the creation of an efficient and effective state that is able to meet its domestic and international obligations, including progress in fulfilling EU and NATO requirements, High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko and US Congress Members Russ Carnahan, Mike Turner and Lynn Woolsey agreed during a meeting in Sarajevo today.

The most pressing priority is the need to fulfill the five objectives and two conditions for the OHR’s transformation into a reinforced presence of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko said. In addition, it is time to begin a process of Constitutional Reform that will rectify provisions that conflict with the European Charter of Human Rights and provide the conditions for economic development and EU integration.

HR/EUSR Inzko and the Members of Congress expressed their conviction that the established close and successful cooperation between the European Union and the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina would continue beyond OHR transition.
