Successful launch of BiH edition of ‘The unconscious witness’ by renowned Italian author Gianrico Carofiglio at the EU Info Centre

The BiH edition of the book ‘The unconscious witness’ by one of the bestselling Italian authors, Gianrico Carofiglio, was promoted on March 19 at an event organised by the EU Info Centre in collaboration with the Association for the Promotion of Italian Culture Dante Alighieri and the Italian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Numerous guests, representatives of the international community and book lovers were addressed by the journalist Dževdet Tuzlić, Prosecutor in the BiH Prosecution Office Enisa Adrović, Judge of the Sarajevo Cantonal Court Mirsada Dučić-Čaušević, lawyer Amila Mujčinović, translator of the book Amra Olovčić, and representatives from the Association for the Promotion of Italian Culture Dante Alighieri.

In a short video message prepared especially for this occasion, the author addressed attendees and said: “If you want the standard detective novel in which the action is at the beginning of the novel, then this might not be the right book for you. My novel is classified as a legal thriller, but that’s not entirely true. The point of the book is mainly reflected in the quote by Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu: ‘What for the caterpillar looks like the end of the world, the rest of the world calls a butterfly’. This story is a little parable about legal reasoning and legal practice, a book about prejudice and premature judgment, a book of truth and trust.”

After the official promotion, visitors took part in an open discussion about modern Italian literature, society and the judiciary, and the similarities and differences between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy in these areas. “The book ‘The unconscious witness’ is a mirror of today’s Italian society and literature. Association Dante Alighieri hopes that in the future there will be more opportunities like this, for the promotion of Italian culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnian culture in Italy. Cultural bridges that connect the two countries will continue to be further developed with enthusiasm,” said vice-president of the Association for the Promotion of Italian Culture Dante Alighieri, Martina Cruz.

The BiH edition of the book is published by the publishing house Buybook in Sarajevo. About the author:
