Technical acceptance of works and hand-over of reconstructed housing units to Roma families completed today in Gracanica, under the EU IPA 2011 project

Within the „Roma Action“ – project financed by the European Union, Hilfswerk Austria International has organized a festive hand–over of reconstructed housing units to 12 Roma families in the Municipality of Gracanica today.

After the performance of works inspection, and in presence of the Hilfswerk Austria International, Municipality of Gracanica, contractor – company „Sagra“ from Gracanica, and Roma representatives as well as Roma families, a festive hand-over of reconstructed housing units to Roma families were organized.
 
The „Roma Action“, that support socio-economic inclusion of Roma in BiH through housing, socio-economic measures with proactive participation of local authorities and other stakeholders, is financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA 2011) in the amount of € 2.500.000 and co-financed by local authorities in the amount of € 545.037. In total, 152 housing units will be (re)constructed for the Roma families within the project. The Project is implemented by Hilfswerk Austria International, in partnership with Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland e.V (ASB) and Kali Sara – Roma Informative Centre Association.
 
Thy Municipality of Gracanica is one of fourteen project municipalities that strongly support inclusion of Roma through housing. The Municipality has provided all needed support and active participation in the project, in particular in the selection of beneficiaries’ process, referring to socially vulnerable families who lived in uninhabitable housing units. The Municipality participated with co-financing amounting 50.000 KM and the Federation BiH Ministry of displaced persons and refugees has provided 100.000 KM for eleven project municipalities in Federation BiH.
