Ambassador Sorensen delivers humanitarian aid for flooded areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Head of EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, delivered today humanitarian aid for the citizens in the flooded areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Our immediate priority is to try to help the citizens from the flooded areas who await evacuation and those who have lost their homes and are in need of food, clothes and shelter. The EU has activated its civil protection mechanism to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to the severe floods. Helicopters and boats are arriving from Slovenia, Luxembourg and Austria thanks to the efforts of the European Community Humanitarian Office and its Emergency Response Coordination Centre. We will continue to explore the possibilities of further assistance. I am impressed with the work done by emergency services here and enormous efforts of many volunteers I have encountered today in these most difficult circumstances”, Ambassador Sorensen said.

In addition, the EU Delegation to BiH/EUSR delivered blankets, canned food, bottled water, baby food, diapers and medicines to one of the collection points in Sarajevo. These are donations of the EU Delegation/EUSR and its staff.
