French film “Envoyez la facture” continues series of cultural events in the EU Info Centre

The EU Info Centre continued the series of cultural events with a screening of the French film “Envoyez la facture/What’s the Damage”’ on October 29 in cooperation with the French Institute in BiH and Eurochannel. The film, directed by Clarie Devers, is part of the 2009 “Suite Noir,” and co-financed from the EU Creative Europe programme.

On this occasion, Massimo Mina, Head of Operations Section for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross Border Cooperation at the EU Delegation to BiH, said that the EU helps thousands of artists and cultural workers to work across borders to reach new audiences and new markets.

“The Creative Europe programme provides 1.46 billion EUR over seven years not only for movie makers and movie lovers, but also for cultural professionals, creative organisations, publishers and book lovers. Millions of people will be reached through the projects financed by the programme,” Mina said. Mina commended the growing interest of BiH citizens adding that BiH participated in 13 projects and 520.000 euro worth of grants were provided in 2014.

Addressing the audience, Ambassador of France, Claire Bodonyi stressed the importance of culture and  investing in culture both for France and the EU in general.

The Director of the French Institute in BiH, Donato Giuliani, said that the  “Suite Noir” film series is a result of the partnership between the French Institute in BiH and Eurochannel, adding that they are pleased with the success made by the first three screenings.

The Creative Europe Desk in BiH, that will provide information on the Creative Europe programme and facilitate the application process, should be fully operational next month, announced the representative of BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, Edin Veladžić.

The screening was followed by an open discussion about French the European cinema with representatives of the French Embassy and the French Institute in BiH.
