EU takes part in 2015 Diplomatic Winter Bazaar

The Delegation of the European Union and the EU Special Representative in BiH today participated in the 2015 Diplomatic Winter Bazaar, the single largest annual diplomatic event in Sarajevo. The Bazaar is traditionally an opportunity for the international community in BiH to make a united effort in raising money to benefit charitable projects to aid and support the most vulnerable sector of the population – the disadvantaged, disabled and orphaned children in BiH.

This year, four projects are expected to benefit from the Bazaar proceedings:

  • The Christine Witcutt Centre which is the only day-care centre in Sarajevo for children with disabilities, located in the Vladimir Nazor School.
  • ‘Downsy i mi’ in Banja Luka which is a parent association for families with children with Down’s Syndrome.
  • The International Franciscan Student Centre, under the auspices of the Bread of St. Anthony, that provides, in addition to accommodation, academic stipends to enable disadvantaged young people from around BiH, regardless of denominational background, to come and study in Sarajevo.
  • Våra Barn (Our Children) is a Swedish-based charity offering help and hope to children without parents, as well as the first “half-way” house for young people who are forced to leave orphanages upon turning 18.
